MoU signing between the Directorate General of National Export Development – Ministry of Trade and the University of Technology Sydney


ITPC Sydney NEWS (15/6) — Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Jerry Sambuaga, witnessed the signing of the MoU between the Directorate General of National Export Development – Ministry of Trade and the University of Technology Sydney on teaching, learning and research on the marketing of Indonesian products. The ceremony was carried out virtually by the Director General of National Export Development, Didi Sumedi, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (International) University of Technology Sydney, Iain Watt.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Trade said that this MoU could open up many opportunities, especially in increasing capacity for Indonesian SMEs in the export market. He also appreciated the hard work of the Indonesian Embassy in Australia, the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney, and ITPC Sydney for this collaboration and their efforts in maintaining trade performance.

This collaboration is the first time for the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia to collaborate with universities abroad. “That’s why I am excited to hear this newly created program will provide opportunity for students from the Faculty of Design and Faculty of International Studies and Educations of UTS to learn about exciting stories on how Indonesian products were made,” says Director General for National Export Development, Ministry of Trade R.I. Didi Sumedi.

In his remarks, the Indonesian Ambassador H. E. Kristiarto S. Legowo says, “I am particularly excited about today’s MOU because it bridges education with trade. These collaborations between industries and education is very vital in ensuring that we take full advantage of our IA-CEPA commitments.”

“We are excited to host the UTS students to do their internships at our office in Sydney, as part of their completion of study subject through Indonesia Design Studio program,” says Ayu Siti Maryam as she concludes the MoU signing ceremony.
