NTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE, SYDNEY – ITPC Sydney, Indonesian Trade Attaché in Canberra, and BEKRAF (Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy) participate in the largest and most internationally recognition IT & Fintech exhibition in Australia, Centrum für Büroautomation, Informationstechnologie und Telekommunikation (CeBIT) 2018. The event takes place on 15-17 May 2018 at the International Convention Center Sydney. There are 350 exhibitors with 15,000 visitors attending the event from many countries including Indonesia, Germany, Taiwan, Pakistan, Srilangka, India, Philippines, and Australia.

Indonesia Pavilion promotes the theme of “Archipelageek” – which represents the a nation of thousand islands with high, substantial, and considerable potential of IT and creative economy. The Pavilion consists of 8 exhibitors, inter aliaNicslabMerakyat.co (metabuilders), YAVA (Solusi247), JojonomicUkirama8villages Indonesia,  MedicoSquiline. Considering the start-up companies in the IT field have been growing rapidly in Indonesia, Australia is one of the largest market to evolve the companies from local to global scale. The production of ICT goods and services generates $ 50 billion in revenue and the industry’s income generates more than $ 100 billion. 4.6% Australian GDP comes from ICT products. It’s a great opportunity for the exhibitors to expand their market and find the distributors, partners, or and investors in Australia.

Joshua Simanjuntak as Deputy of Marketing (Bekraf) speaks to SBS Radio about how the government helps the startup companies to spread their wings internationally by providing the platform, construction, material and program promotion for creative economy actors. However, there are few challenges to keep it in mind. He added that “The biggest challenge is how we transfer from the appreciations to transactions. Often we get a thumbs up (like prestigious awards)  but it’s (the money) not there” (to watch the full interview, go to here). With 3 days of participation, Indonesia Pavilion has potentially transferred the appreciations to transactions. From strategically placement and appreciation of the display booth, it is translated to potential transactions value of AUD 2 millions.

Beside the exhibition, there are other activities during and after CeBIT as the follow up. During the event, Hari Sungkari as Deputy of Infrastructure (Bekraf) speaks about the development of IT & Fintech in Indonesia at Innovation stage. As the follow up, ITPC and Bekraf meet various of key people in the industry including VITO representative, the coffee industry community, Business Relations Director of Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology in University of Technology Sydney, CEO of Tokopedia, House of Indonesia, Business actors who have been selected by NSW government (Business matching), and to participate at the event of ICON 2018.
