Lecturing Session with Regina Kindagen

Hi ITPC Partners, in today’s lecturing session of Indonesian Design Studio Program with UTS, Faculty of Global Studies, we have Regina Kindangen, CEO of Nancy Craft Co. and the member of HIMKI (Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association). Regina Kindangen is the third generation of her family in their rattan handicrafts and furniture business. Established in 1981, Nancy Craft Co have already exported to 43 countries. Nancy Craft Co’s goals is to continue to move and develop a handicraft product business from Indonesia. We hope to see more Indonesian made furniture in retail store such as Kmart and Bunnings here in Australia!

Indonesia is blessed with natural resources; Indonesia also has the third largest area of tropical rain forest. Furniture and handicraft industry plays an important role in Indonesia’s economic growth which creates jobs and generates foreign exchange to the country. The characteristic of Indonesia’s furniture is typically made from woods or rattan that create a sense of earthy environment for living. And do you know that rattan as a material is one of the safest from an environmental standpoint? Her company have already exported to 43 countries, such as : USA, Japan, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Australia, UK, French, South Korea, Taiwan.

We are so grateful to have Bu Regina as our speaker, she gives the students valuable insights on the furniture and handicraft industry in Indonesia. Her experience in sustaining and adapting to customer characteristics and managing the production on her family business for over 40 years is something to commemorate.
