IndOz Conference 2021

On September 16, 2021, Synergy Indonesia Australia will hold the IndoOz Business Conference for the first time on a hybrid basis. This conference provides an opportunity for business people, investors, and policy makers to exchange information related to policies, lessons learned and best practices from business people from the two countries.

Together with H.E. Den Tehan, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Australia, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Muhammad Lutfi gave a keynote speech at the opening of the IndoOZ event. In his remarks, the Indonesian Minister of Trade said that he was optimistic that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia would continue to improve and strengthen after the Covid-19 pandemic. This is indicated by the increase in the value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Australia, which jumped 68.2% and reached a value of USD 6.8 billion in the period January-July 2021.

This positive signal shows that the Indonesian-Australian economy is getting stronger and rebound in the first semester of 2021, “hopefully this is a positive signal from the use of the IA CEPA,” said the Minister of Trade.

In the panel discussion session, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Indonesian Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Trade, Ari Satria was one of the speakers. He emphasized that there are many opportunities that can be explored and exploited in the IA-CEPA considering that Indonesia-Australia are countries that complement each other.

“Economic power house is a key scheme of the IA CEPA, where the two countries can synergize in the global supply chain,” concluded Ari.
